Warrant Officer Josias Gouws has retired after 35 years of service at Table View police station.
His retirement took effect on Friday July 29.
Mr Gouws joined the police at the age of 22, in 1984, and he joined the Table View police station in 1987.
Married with two children, he says he plans to spend more time with his family during retirement. Fishing is also on his to-do list, along with ticking things off his bucket list, including bungee jumping.
In 2018, he received a certificate of commendation from the national commissioner, after arresting a suspect accused of terrorising, sexually assaulting and robbing women in the Parklands area.
Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler says Warrant Officer Gouws will be sorely missed by the community and his colleagues.
