Kay Bailey, chairwoman, St Luke’s Hospice, West Coast
International Volunteer Day is on Monday December 5. However, we will be celebrating the day on Wednesday November 30. Our volunteers give of their time selflessly without reward. There are many who have been with St Luke’s Hospice West Coast for more than 20 years, one or two even longer.
There are few words to describe the value we place on our volunteers; their loyalty and dedication are an inspiration to us, and we thank them all from the bottom of our hearts.
In life’s journey, some of our own volunteers have become hospice patients, bringing close to home once more the importance of their role in assisting us to fulfil, our role, to provide quality palliative care to anyone in need of our services.
Our charity shops will be closing on Thursday December 15 and will reopen on Tuesday January 17. Donations are most welcome while our shops are still open.
Once our shops close, donations may be delivered to our office at 1 Hof Street, Table View. If you are interested in becoming a St Luke’s Hospice volunteer, visit our website www.hospicewestcoast.co.za or call 021 557 8925, from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 3pm.
