The 11th annual 100km Century Run took place in Century City recently. To qualify for the race, the combined age of riders and their motorbikes needed to exceed 100 years. The oldest of this year’s 47 participants was 86-year-old Neville Clarke while the oldest vehicle taking part was a 104-year-old Douglas belonging to Brian Wallace. The overall winner this year was Barry South whose age and that of his bike totalled 173 years. The Century Run was conceived by veteran biker, Jerry Day, and has become a popular annual event that starts at Century City and meanders 100km through the Durbanville Winelands, ending at Killarney.
