Woman hijacked in Table View

The gun Table View police found on a 44-year-old suspect in Doornbach.

Milnerton and Table View police have made several arrests, including of a 38-year-old man for the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Captain Nopaya Madyibi, spokesperson for Milnerton SAPS, said the man pretending to be a prophet was known to the family of the little girl.

The victim’s mother had asked the man to pray for her daughter and he took the girl to his place in Joe Slovo around 9am on Thursday August 23.

The mother later went to the man’s house and after many attempts, he finally opened the door and the girl ran out, saying he did not want her to leave and threatened her with Malawian muti. The girl said the man pulled her panty halfway down and used his finger to penetrate her and used his penis to pat her vagina.

The suspect was set to appear on a charge of rape on Thursday August 30 at Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on Sunday September 2 by Table View Crime Prevention, who were busy doing foot patrols in Doornbach informal settlement, for being in possession of a stolen gun and dagga.

Captain Adriana Chandler, spokesperson for Table View SAPS, said the officers walked into an open shack where they found the man sleeping and the gun next to him. The officers searched the man and found cannabis in his possession.

The serial number of the firearm was tested and it was confirmed as stolen in September 2001 in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga.

The suspect was arrested and charged with being in possession of a stolen gun and possession of an illegal substance.

The man was arrested and was due to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Tuesday September 4.

Table View police are on the hunt for two men who hijacked a 20-year-old woman in Table View last week.

Captain Chandler said on Wednesday August 29, two people were sitting in a Nissan Micra in Coral Road, Table View, when a white Polo Vivo stopped at a driveway in the road. One of the suspects, who had a gun, jumped out and forcefully removed the woman from her car.

A male passenger in the woman’s car was also forced out of the car at gunpoint.

The tracker of the vehicle was activated by the tracking company and the vehicle was found abandoned in Belhar a short while later.

No arrests have been made at this stage and Table View SAPS are still investigating.

Three men were arrested on the R27 for the possession of a stolen car and for having an imitation firearm.

Captain Madyibi of Milnerton SAPS said the men were pushing a blue Kia Picanto on the side of the road on the R27 near Sunset Beach at 2.40am on Wednesday August 29. Milnerton SAPS, who were on patrol, approached the car and found a gun under the driver’s seat and when the car was tested, it was found to have been stolen in Maitland.

The three men were set to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday August 30.
