An unknown number of assailants stabbed a woman, shot at her boyfriend and stole the couple’s cellphones along the N7 near Dunoon last week, say police.
The couple had been driving in separate cars but had stopped on the side of the road just after noon on Monday October 9 after the man’s car started giving problems, according to provincial police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk.
As they stopped, the men ran towards both vehicles and smashed the driver’s side window of the woman’s car.
When her boyfriend got out of his car, he was shot at but managed to run from the scene unharmed.
The woman jumped out of her car and ran towards Richwood, but the men caught up with her and stabbed her twice, once in the right arm and then in the back.
“We believe that the suspects fled on foot, and ran back in the direction of the Dunoon community,” said Captain Van Wyk.
Police are investigating armed robbery and attempted murder cases.
Bothasig police spokeswoman Captain Anel Botes said no arrests had been made.
