Referring to “City offers up to R5 000 reward for reporting illegal dumpers” (Tabletalk, September 21).
Instead of offering rewards for reporting illegal dumping, which in any event one hardly ever witnesses, the City should erect spot cameras at the sites where regular dumping occurs, like around the corner from me.
The moment their cleaning crew has cleared the site, it’s not a day that new rubbish arrives.
Erecting cameras would mean being “pro-active”, not relying on the public, hoping for useful information.
