Bothasig Knights continue to show their dominance in Major League baseball, winning both their encounters during the weekend’s double header.
They narrowly beat Athlone A’s 4-3 at Parktown Sports Complex on Saturday.
On Sunday they came up against division newcomers, Battswood.
They rediscovered their hitting prowess as they comfortably won 24-0 to keep their top spot on the log after five rounds.
Their neighbours, Milnerton Mavericks recorded their first win in the division, getting the better of fellow newcomers Thistle 14-11.
It was their only encounter on the weekend as they were on bye on Saturday.
The Knights rivals, Bellville Tygers played one fixture at the weekend, dispatching Batsswood 20-0 at Chukker Road. Tygers surprisingly lost their opening league fixture against VOB, making their journey to pipping Knights at the top of the standings more difficult than it was suppose to be.
After losing to the Knights, A’s went on to comfortably beat Durbanville Villains 13-0 in their Sunday encounter.
That win was the A’s third on the road and fourth overall in their seven league matches so far.
Villains went to the game coming off an impressive 16-13 victory against Westridge Yankees a day before and were looking to make it a perfect weekend.
They have won three from six matches and, incidentally, their success has only comes on the road this season.
Having lost against Villains on Saturday, the Yankees weekend was made worse by Grassy Park Crusaders who ran out 14-3 victors.
Despite not having a perfect weekend, Crusaders would be satisfied with their weekend results.
They also showed stubbornness in their game against VOB Macaws at Chukker Road.
However, that match had to be suspended because of bad light with the two sides locked at 16-all. The Macaws would go on to lose their second encounter against Helderberg Pirates 12-11.
