As 2016 SA high school Junior Max 125cc karting championship runner-up, Sebastian Boyd is keen to end up on top of his highly competitive class in the sixth round of the Western Province 125cc championships at Killarney on Saturday August 27.
Known affectionately as Seb, the young karter currently lies second in the regional series despite a difficult weekend last time out.
He is now intent on hauling in fellow WP title contenders Jason Coetzee and Dario Busi in second over the remaining three rounds.
Although it will be an uphill battle ,he knows that if he pegs his ears back and plays an aggressive game on the circuit, he will have a chance to walk away with top honours this weekend and help secure valuable league points in doing so.
“We started the year very well, but things are pretty tough on the Cape Junior Max championship,” Boyd Boss Freight Kosmic driver Sebastian explained.
“This class is so competitive and we are racing against some pretty tough customers – I need to beat both Jason and Dario this weekend to stop Jason escaping at the front.
“Either way I am looking forward to getting back to racing on Saturday – it’s hard on track but I’m racing against a good bunch of guys so race days are quite fun.
“But they are even more fun when I win and I really want to have a fun weekend,” he said.
Killarney’s sixth round kart races can be expected to deliver the usual explosive action across the board on Saturday. You can find the kart track across the way from the main circuit pit complex, where you will also find a vibrant race day atmosphere with entertaining commentary and great grub and drinks at the clubhouse.
