With 15 games gone in the Cape Town Tygerberg Local Football Association’s Premier Division, the chase is on for top spot honours.
Downberg Road’s Hanover Park Football Club leads the pack with 36 points after 12 wins and three losses.
On Saturday, June 23, Hanover Park beat Wynberg St Johns 3-0 to move up a point above second-placed Vasco Da Gama.
Vasco made light work of Norway Parks with a commanding 5-1 win, in Parow, this past weekend. They’ve won 11 matches, drew two and lost two, in the campaign.
Concluding the top three spot is the 2023 champions, Edgemead Football Club, on 29 points. Out of 16 matches, they’ve won eight, drew five and lost three, this season.
With a game in hand, in fourth position, the 2022 champions, Wynberg St Johns are on 27 points, after 14 matches. They’ve won five, drew three, and lost three.
Wynberg will look to bounce back to winning ways when they host seventh-placed Saxon Rovers, on Saturday, June 29.
Table View Football Club’s seven wins, five draws and one loss, in 13 matches, moves them up to fifth position, with three games in hand.
Table View are equal on 26 points, alongside sixth-placed Rygersdal. Table View have scored 24 goals and conceded 16.
Rygersdal have won eight, drew two and lost three, in 13 matches, while scoring 22 goals and conceding 23. Rygersdal will play their next nine fixtures at UCT and at the Rygersdal A field.
Meanwhile, Saxon Rovers’ next three matches are against Wynberg, Hanover Park and Bothasig.
With just 22 points, in seventh position, Rovers will be on the hunt for three more points to add to their five wins, seven draws and four losses.
JMI (19 points), Bothasig (18 points), Garden Village (17 points) and Green Point (17 points) make up the middle part of the Premier Division.
Bothasig and Garden Village are the only two teams with three points deducted this season.
Five points behind Garden Village and Green Point is Bellville City and Norway Parks, equally on 12 points, in position 12 and 13.
In their opening 15 games, Bellville City won four and lost 11, while Norway Parks won three, drew three and lost 10, in 16 matches.
Fish Hoek (10), Sunningdale City (10) and FN Rangers (six) are at the bottom of the league.
In their upcoming fixtures, Fish Hoek will travel up to Norway Parks, in Maitland. Sunningdale City will host second-placed Vasco.
In 16th position, FN Rangers has the lowest goal margin after scoring 13 and conceding 28 goals.
With the lowest scoring margin of 13 goals scored and 28 conceded this season, Rangers will play against the log leaders and the team with the highest goal scoring margin this season, Hanover Park (50), at the FN Rangers FNB Stadium A, on Saturday, June 29.
