Cape rocker Jack Stone returns to his roots with his first Afrikaans EP, Refleksie.
“The time for soulful Afrikaans music is now,” says the Bloubergstrand singer.
“After all, Afrikaans is my mother tongue, and I recently formed a new connection with it, one that I am now truly proud of.”
In 2012, Jack released his full-length English album, Walk On. This was followed by several English solo tracks such as Blood Sweat & Years, Common Rejection, The Rapture, and Summer Love.
In 2011 he released the mini-album Grace that featured his first EP as a solo artist.
Jacks says artists such as Francois van Coke, Ard Matthews and Arno Carstens inspire him but he prefers his music not to be boxed in a specific genre. “Who knows, maybe Refleksie will create a brandnew vibe,” he said.
Refleskie is the first part of a complete Afrikaans album that will be released in sections over the next six months and includes collaborations with Hunter Kennedy from the Afrikaans punk rock group, Fokofpolisiekar and Heuwels Fantasties.
Jack is also working on his new English album, Forever These Years, which he hopes to release later this year followed by a nationwide tour.
