After six months of rehearsals, Unwrite Me, a musical written by two young women is ready to take to the stage in Panorama.
Actress Melissa Massyn, 20, of Durbanville, co-wrote the production with Eunice Stoltz, 25, of Boston, to offer young talent a chance to perform in front of a large audience.
Unwrite Me combines acting, singing and dancing.
It tells the tale of 40-year-old writer Abi (Annette Havenga), who battles with the voices in her head and tries to find herself through her stories.
She realises she will never truly experience contentment if she doesn’t stop making enemies of her friends, family, career and her subconscious.
“Audiences can look forward to a highly entertaining show and will definitely be able to relate to the main character and learn a lot from her,” says Melissa. “The actors are truly talented, and I am very grateful for each of them.”
Melissa has been working in the entertainment industry since 2011 and played the part of Susan in Hoofmeisie.
She also had roles in the movie, Agent 2000, and the TV drama series, Erfsondes.
Melissa says being behind the scenes as a director and writer lets her experience other aspects of the entertainment industry.
The cast includes Annette Havenga, Almarie Coetzee, Rynhardt Strydom, Havard Koegelenberg, Ree Brink, Chanelle Matthee and Sune Brink. Andre Myburgh handles the technical side of things.
The concert opens at the Corpus Christi Gemeente, 78 Uys Krige Drive, in Panorama, on Saturday November 30, at 6pm.
Tickets at R85 can be booked at melissamassyn.public@gmail.com until Thursday November 28 or bought at the door for R100.
