Pastor Robert Akande held a book launch at a Parklands restaurant at the weekend. Born in the Nigerian state of Edo, Mr Akande moved to Johannesburg in 1994, and, in 2009, he started the Rainbow Family Church in Parow. To date, he has self-published three books of Christian teachings: Provoking Divine Intervention, God is not on a Break and The Doings of the Lord, his latest work. There are four things the cleric says he wants to achieve. “The first thing is that I would like to change the perception that people have about Nigerians. I want to be a blessing to people and hopefully the books will enlarge their spiritual capacity. I also want to leave a legacy by writing these books and, finally, I would love for some of what I have to say to reach a much bigger audience. I believe that by putting my words to paper, I can achieve this.”
