Bosmansdam High School and Bothasig are located on what was originally the farm, Bosmansdam.
The first staff consisted of only seven members and the first school committee was elected on March 17 1971. Initially the school motto was “Unitas” but it was changed to “Unitate fortior” (stronger through unity).
The slogan,” Bosmansdam, the school that cares”, was adopted in 2015 by the school governing body.
Highlights from the past 30 years include a pupil, Jodie Williams, winning the 2007 Idols 4 competition while still at school; the school’s dancers competing in Taiwan in 2011 at an international dancing competition; and past student James Vos being elected as a member of Parliament.
In 2014 Chevron donated a fully equipped science centre to the school. 2017 has seen the inauguration of the school’s new netball courts, built to international standards, and its under-19A netball team winning their league and being unbeaten throughout the season.
Netball player Cleopatra Omele was elected to the South African under-18 netball team that will tour Australia next year.
