Reaching for the stars

Fourteen Parklands College pupils joined forces at their first space camp, in Arniston, on Monday March 13, to assemble and code a Phoenix 1C hybrid-propellent rocket with a scientific-data-collection instrument. The rocket was launched from the Overberg Test Range, in Arniston, on Thursday March 16. The pupils had hoped to collect flight data from the launch, but adverse weather saw the rocket crash into the sea after reaching an altitude of 5km.
