A Parklands man who heard his home’s alarm sensor go off in the early hours of Wednesday April 4 went to investigate and found two intruders in the passage.
The man bolted back to his bedroom, where he pressed a panic button and called his security company.
Table View police spokeswoman Captain Adriana Chandler said the intruders fled from the Crawley Crescent house.
“The security officer went looking for the suspects and caught them not far from the house.”
The suspects had a laptop, which the homeowner had identified as his. It had been the only item stolen. Both men, aged 19 and 21, were handed over to the Table View police and charged with housebreaking and theft.
Police have arrested three men and a teenage girl who were caught with a hijacked car in Parklands.
Officers noticed a Toyota Tazz with four occupants in Parklands Main Road shortly before midnight on Friday April 6.
When the driver sped up and went through a stop street after spotting the police, the officers gave chase.
The car’s licence number showed it had been hijacked in Milnerton on Saturday April 1.
“Eventually the vehicle was brought to a halt and the officers approached it with caution. The occupants, three men, aged 23, 27 and 37 and a female, aged 15, were arrested for being in possession of a hijacked vehicle,” said Captain Chandler.
