War of words

M Heilbuth, Sanddrift

I love you, Jon Ralph. I thought I was alone.

I’ve never been able to understand why people get so upset about so-called racial slurs (“Racial slurs,” Tabletalk letters, February 7). Especially that monkey thing.

I was flabbergasted at the size of the chips some people carry on their shoulders.

Your sensible words restore my faith that there are a few sane people out there.

The rest of them are heading headlong into dangerous territory.

And when they’ve beaten, murdered or sued the name caller, what then?

The words have still been said and the world goes on…
