Ah, yes! While on the subject of the wooden bridge, someone needs to explain why the City has to pay for restoring the bridge when it is, or should be, funded by Heritage Western Cape, which is, in turn, funded by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.
Mxolisi Dlamuka from Heritage Western Cape responds: The bridge belongs to the City of Cape Town.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of the property owner/s to maintain their assets.
Heritage Western Cape will only consider an application in terms of the provisions of the National Heritage Resources Act.
