A fire in Joe Slovo on Saturday night destroyed 36 shacks and left 99 people displaced, according to City officials.
One woman was treated for smoke inhalation but no other injuries were reported, said City Fire and Rescue spokesman, Jermaine Carelse.
The fire brigade had responded at 9pm, extinguishing the blaze shortly before 12.30am, he said. The cause of the fire had not been determined yet.
City Disaster Risk Management Centre spokeswoman, Charlotte Powell, said the fire victims had been issued rebuilding kits, and the South African Social Services Agency had been notified so it could provide humanitarian relief.
