Ward candidate

■ Pamela Overmeyer, of the Democratic Independent (DI) party, is among the candidates standing in the Ward 4 by-election today, Wednesday August 2 (“More by-election candidates announced“, Tabletalk, July 26).The DI was formed last year and has one seat on the city council. Ms Overmeyer, 56, has no political experience but she feels this should not deter people from voting for her as she is able to “relate to people on all levels”. The mother of three and grandmother of two works in the sales department at a company based in Montague Gardens. “I’m a mother, a wife and I work. I went from having everything to losing everything, so I can relate to people from both ends of the spectrum,” said Ms Overmeyer.
