An informer led Bothasig police officers to an address in Joe Slovo as they pursued the perpetrators of a Wapenlyn Street burglary.
The officers had been tipped off that a phone stolen in the burglary last week had been sold at the address.
Officers arrested two Bothasig men in their 30s at the address on Tuesday night October 18, and one of the two phones stolen in the burglary was recovered, said Bothasig police spokesman Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert.
Police arrested a Bothasig man, 30, with stolen property on Monday October 24.
An officer patrolling Bothasig noticed a man with a black toolbox whom police had arrested before on burglary-related charges.
“He approached the suspect who became increasingly more nervous and was walking very fast at the time,” said Warrant Officer Mostert.
There was about R3000-worth of tools in the box, and the officer arrested the man for possession of presumed stolen property. The man was due to will appear in court on Tuesday October 25. Police are still looking for the owner of the toolbox, which has a yellow handle.
