Table View police are investigating a business robbery after 12 armed men entered the Checkers Hyper store in Parklands at Sandown retail crossing and made off with R27 000 worth of cash, last week.
There were no injuries or fatalities, said Table View police Captain Adriana Chandler.
“A security guard working at the Hyper was held at gunpoint but no shots were fired,” she said.
She said the men entered the supermarket’s premises on Monday April 3, just before 8pm, some forcing staff to handover cash, while the other men went to the cash office where they found R27 000 and fled in three separate vehicles.
No arrests have been made, said Captain Chandler.
Shoprite Checkers head office confirmed that a robbery took place at the Checkers Hyper Parklands store on Monday, April 3 but could not provide further details “because police is investigating” (sic).
