Two women were killed on Monday morning after the car they were in crashed into a building in Plattekloof Road, Bothasig.
According to ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, it is believed that the two women were with two other men in the car when it crashed.
“ER24 paramedics, Life Healthcare, Metro Rescue and Western Cape Fire, arrived on the scene shortly after 1am to find the vehicle partially inside the collapsed building. Two women were found lying underneath the building rubble. It is believed that two men had been inside the vehicle at the time of the incident but were not found on the scene,” he said.
Mr Meiring said rescue personnel managed to pull the women out from the rubble but they were pronounced dead on the scene because of multiple injuries.
Provincial police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela, said they have opened a case of culpable homicide but would not confirm whether there had been two other men at the scene of the accident.
“It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle lost control and drove through a wall of a residence in Plattekloof Road. The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated and no arrests have been effected as yet,” she said.
