Table View police station commander, Colonel Lindiwe Dyantyi, said alcohol is the main contributor to domestic violence related crimes.
This after a 22-year-old man was arrested for dealing in alcohol without a licence at the weekend.
Captain Adriana Chandler, spokesperson at Table View police station, said just over 187 litres of alcohol, including beers, ciders, spirits and wine, were confiscated and handed in as evidence.
She said police officers who had been patrolling in Dunoon on Saturday January 16 saw members of the public leaving a dwelling with beers. The police then introduced themselves to the suspect and asked if he had a licence to sell alcohol, which he didn’t have.
He was arrested for dealing in liquor without a licence and cash at the counter was taken in as evidence, said Captain Chandler.
