It was an all out fight for glory when Table View Football Club hosted Sunningdale City Football Club in a Cape Town Tygerberg Local Football Association’s Premier Division clash, on Saturday afternoon.
Going into the match with seven points from the three opening games, Table View were confident against a stubborn Sunningdale City side.
Sunningdale were, however, the underdogs going into the first leg of the league clash, following their difficult start to the campaign this season.
The game kicked off with much of the possession in favour of the home side, as expected, in front of an electric crowd.
Momentum shifted in the second half, with Sunningdale finding gaps in Table View’s defence but unable to find the back of the net.
Needing only one chance to sneak in a late goal, Table View put one past Sunningdale’s goalkeeper.
At the end of the 90 minutes, it was the home side that walked away with the three points after a 1-0 win in the Milnerton derby.
Moving up to fourth position, after three wins and one draw, Table View will host log leaders, Edgemead Football Club, on Wednesday May 1, at 3.45pm.
Meanwhile, Sunningdale will look to register their first win in the campaign when they travel up to FN Rangers, in Maitland, on Wednesday afternoon.
