Century City runner Tanya Posthumus-Fox won the Sanlam Cape Town Peace 12km Trail last weekend finishing in 01hr1min50sec.
Stella Kuhn von Burgsdorff came second 01hr12min18sec, and Megan North third in 01hr17min25sec.
The Peace Trail formed part of last weekend’s Cape Town Marathon. The scenic route is over the trails of Signal Hill and Lion’s Head.
Tanya has won nine races since May this year including the Langebaan Weskus Half Marathon and the Steps for Hope, Welgedacht Wine Estate 10km Trail Run, the latter was held on Sunday, the day after the Sanlam Cape Town Peace Trail. She says she still has a lot to learn when it comes to trails and a few fears to get over.
“Steep declines scare the hell out of me and I encountered a couple of those on Saturday.
“At one point I literally stopped at the top of a drop not knowing how I was going to get down from there but I eventually managed.
“At another drop I had to deliberately run into a tree so as not to run off the side of the mountain because I could not control my speed with such a decline.
“There was a third incident where I took a nasty trip fall due to the excessive camber on the last off-road section but thankfully there were no major injuries.”
