Joe Slovo-based outfit Benz Football Club are excited with the direction the club is taking, even though there is still lots of work to do.
Established in 2018, the club is building from the junior ranks up. They currently have teams from under-8 to under-16.
At the weekend the women’s side showed off their new home and away kit during the unveiling at Royal Ascot in Milnerton. Their new kit came about as a result of their recent relationship with SuperSpar Royal Ascot.
The women’s side is currently competing in the SAFA Cape Town Regional Women’s Development League but are hoping to climb the ranks to the highest division.
Club chairman, Lwandiso Quvile, said: “We are strongly focused on youth development with regard to football skill, as well as encouraging positive involvement in the community. We hope to provide a safe environment for our youth members while also promoting competitive football through our passionate volunteer coaches to prepare all players for future opportunities that may come their way.”
The women’s team is five months old and Quvile says the success of Banyana Banyana, newly crowned Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) champions, also pushes them to strive for the best for their women’s team.
“We are inviting all ladies who still have that dream of playing for Banyana Banyana and say this is a opportunity (for them to launch their careers),” said Quvile.
